My Little Pony

And...the cartoon experiment continues.  This was going to be another version of my hippocampus character, but I could see that this particular cartoon version of a equine was not going to fit my Silvermane. So, I converted it to a My Little Pony fan art.  Partly that is where I got the information on how to draw this sketch.  I watched a video on YouTube on how to draw a My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic pony base so one could create an original character based on that cartoon.  I might try the original version of that cartoon later just for the fun of it.  I added some features based on a real horse reference that I have in one of my drawing tutorial books.  It is a bit rough in spots, but I had to hurry up.  I only have a few days left before my next set of classes start up an I have two of them together this time.  This likely means no free time to continue my sketch project of experimental forms, recordings of things I want to refer to, and revisiting some of my earlier drawings to see if I can improve them in some way.  Basically I am creating my own reference book.  The species Triphibious Hippocampus Unicornus is such a brain puzzle for me.  I was thinking that they would be best expressed as a cartoon of sorts.  This was sort of true, my original effort seems like it would be the best with some minor improvements that I will continue to work on.  I think however, I will go totally in the opposite direction with my hippocampus characters and try to do them more realistically in style.  See how that goes.  This sketch is just to cute to work for what I have in mind.  So, now I have my Sweetie character, a talented match maker...I guess that is what the cutie mark could mean.  As nice as this sketch turned out, I am not sure I will be doing something like this again.  I prefer to keep trying for photo realistic.  I always fall short of doing that, but I keep trying.
